Advance offers the application and performance of a traditional solvent based paint but in a waterborne formula that cleans up with soap and water. This furniture grade paint is a 100% water-dispersible alkyd, developed with proprietary new resins that keep VOCs* low even after tinting. It flows and levels like a traditional solvent-based alkyd with the extended open-time required to achieve a high-end finish. Advance is available in unlimited colours, giving you more ways than ever to achieve the perfect look on every job.

Some years ago I used Advance paints to refurb our kitchen cabinets. This excellent paint has lived up to all its advertised properties. Pleased to find local agency with Brewers.

I've tried all brands and all types, but this is the best paint I've ever used on woodwork, for a number of reasons. It dries very smooth will no brush marks, it dries very hard (like oil based) and it's so easy to wash brushes and rollers when finished. It's not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for and is definitely worth it in the long-run. I've used it throughout my own house because it has that look of a quality finish.

The Advance range is by far THE best waterbourne paint for woodwork/trim available in the UK.
As a professional painter, I have used all of the UK's big named brands and NONE are even close to being as good as Advance.
Exceptional levelling (just like old solvent based) coupled with a long open time gives you a perfect finish time and time again.
The Satin has great opacity too so you can key old oil based gloss and go straight on with two coats.
Brilliant stuff, as is the company, Shaw Paints, that sells it.

I would highly recommend the Advance Satin Finish, I have been Hand Painting Bespoke Kitchens for over 30 years and have found the Advance Satin finish to be one of the best water based finishes I have used, easy to apply, levels out beautifully and very durable , perfect for hard ware areas like kitchen furniture.

Best water base primer and satin I have ever used ,and the paint doesn't damage brushes like other water base paints can do

If you're in need a paint and the sheen must be satin, then go for BM Advance and magic will happen!
It's very low odour which is pleasant for you, your customers, children and they're pets too.
Applying by brush, roller or spray, it dries very quickly during your day.
I use it on woodwork, windows and doors, but not on the ground, there's a product for floors!
The levelling qualities are there to be seen, it's one of the reasons I'm ever so keen.
The finish I feel is second to none and I recommend this paint to everyone.
A painter, a housewife an enthusiast, give it a try, this paint is a blast!

Advanced gloss extra white,
Been using this on a 5 bed house
All doors ,wood work, on top of oil gloss,so one coat of primer, then two gloss,I tried the standerd White advanced gloss, but was not white enough more grey than white, lmo, but the extra white is fantastic stuff ,just like oil to apply but without the smell of oil and dries very quickly, it's got the best shine of any water base gloss I have used and I've tried most, plus will not turn yellow like all the oil gloss does, so will be using this on all my jobs that want a gloss finish from now on

This is my go-to range of paints for woodwork. Its the closest to a traditional oil finish in a water soluble, low odour finish that I have found.
Its great for all interior woodwork and I have even used it on furniture.
All the paints adhere well to previously painted and new surfaces. I have even applied the satin straight to a previously unpainted radiator without sanding (as a trial) and had no adhesion issues.
On the radiator I did have very slight discolouration, but this was shown by BM to be caused by the addition of the heat causing a slightly advanced aging. This was only very minor though and I'd have no issue using it on radiators again.

I've used a number of waterborne gloss paints over the years. I sampled some of the BM Advance gloss and it is by far the best out there. The gloss level seems to develop even better over a week or so.
Great customer service too!
