Our top 10 "greige" shades
by Helen Shaw, Marketing Director, Benjamin Moore UK

After a decade with grey being at the forefront of interior trends, this versatile tone has given way to an altogether warmer and more comforting hue - greige.

If you love neutrals and greys, greige offers the best of both worlds. Grey enough to feel contemporary and harmonious. Beige enough to feel warm and comforting.

As with every part of the colour spectrum, greige colours are influenced by light and its always important to try a colour in your space before taking the plunge.
For example,
Titanium OC-49
is on the green-grey end of this scale and may read cool in a north facing room yet perfectly balanced in a south or east facing room.
Conversely,
Edgecomb Gray HC-173 is on the warmer end of the scale and will read more neutral in a north facing space.

Here you'll discover our best selling greige tones that are so versatile they can harmonise effortlessly with a breadth of design styles and colour accents, making them the perfect choice of neutral from which to build any scheme.
Classic Gray OC-23

Using greige alongside a white wall is a timeless design choice.
Here
Classic Gray OC-23 creates a focal point, highlighting the architectural detail of the panelled wall.
Using
Simply White OC-117 in a matte finish on the wall and rich taupe Indian River 985 in semi-gloss on the woodwork adds even more design dimension to this serene bedroom.

Titanium OC-49

The flexibility of greige transcends beyond painted walls to kitchen cabinetry, as seen in this sun-lit kitchen.

Titanium OC-49 in satin sheen on cabinetry adds a stroke of modernity to an otherwise neutral kitchen. Wood floors and a natural fibre rug lend warmth to the space.

Natural Cream OC-14

A balanced greige, Natural Cream OC-14 shifts from cool to warm depending on the lighting conditions in the room.

'There is a glow to this room we love,' says Andrea Magno, Director of Colour Marketing & Development. 'The combination of the flat sheen on the wall with the semi-gloss window frame is a clever way to make each colour stand out a bit more from one another.'

Edgecomb Gray HC-173

Blogger The Creativity Exchange is a real fan of this classic shade saying, "I love the versatility of this colour, and how it looks beautiful in just about any room in the house. Edgecomb Gray sets the stage for a timeless tone on tone look".
We've linked through to her blog post so you can see more schemes based on this exceptionally popular shade.

Balboa Mist OC-27

Balboa Mist OC-27 is a perennial favourite greige.

'Balboa Mist OC-27 has a good dose of grey in it with a slightly warmer cast because of the colours hint of a red-violet undertone,' explains Andrea Magno, Benjamin Moores Director of Colour Marketing & Development. 'However, under other lighting conditions Balboa Mist can skew a bit cooler, illustrating the importance of brushing the paint colour on your wall with a sample to make the best decision.

Revere Pewter HC-172

Revere Pewter is one of the more saturated tones in this line up but its a great transitional colour, perfect for an open floor plan with light from different aspects.

Here, the near wall is painted in
Revere Pewter HC-172 and is paired with Chelsea Gray HC-168 on the rear wall and Decorator's White OC-149 on the woodwork.

Wish AF-680

Greige and wood surfaces are truly design soulmates.

Walls painted in
Wish AF-680 provide a warm, comfortable vibe when paired with any colour, but is made all the more lovely besides a wood table, as seen here, or in a room with wood-finished floors.

Gray Owl OC-52

An exceptionally popular shade, Gray Owl OC-52 has a subtle green undertone making it a calming and restful shade. In a sunny space, this colour will feel warm and comforting but in north facing spaces it will read cooler. Be sure to try a sample to see how the light in your space impacts on this shade.

Barren Plain 2111-60

Light greige Barren Plain 2111-60 sets off a central mantel in Stormy Monday 2112-50, a mid-tone gray.

Greigeand all neutralsempower you to use more saturated colours in your room, as seen here in this gorgeous
Chambourd AF-645-painted armoire.
